About the Author

Born and raised in Burlington, Ontario Canada, Patrick McMillan came to the United States in the late 1980's were he met and married his beautiful wife Elaina in 1992.  The prospect of starting a family was a frightening reality, because Patrick's childhood experience was, unfortunately, one to which many children can relate, which resulted in Patrick leaving home at the age of 15. Returning to tenth grade at the age of 20, residing with friends rather than family, Patrick was determined to get an education, and went on to the University of Guelph, in Guelph Ontario Canada. Very motivated to "break the cycle" of his past, Patrick took on the role of "stay at home" dad in 2000, with their first son Hayden, who was eighteen months old at the time.  In 2001, Patrick and Elaina gave birth to their second son Liam.  Motivated even further to be the very best dad he could be, and to create the very best life for himself and his family, Patrick began his studies into how to raise their children to be emotionally stable, self-confident and optimistic.  For the past seven years, Patrick has been at home with the kids while immersing himself in the study of personal growth and "positive psychology”.  "If I knew then, what I know now", was the inspirational phrase Patrick needed to create for his children, a program that would teach them emotional intelligence and how to live a life filled with happiness and adventure, and arm them with the tools to face the inevitable challenges life has to offer.  After creating an interactive program for his children, it began to show results almost instantly.  Requests began coming in from friends and teachers to turn this into something that all children can take advantage.
